The Shire of Yilgarn is providing notice that control of the full length of Parker Range Road and Marvel Loch Forrestania Road (South of the Parker Range Road intersection) is now under the control of Main Roads Western Australia.

As the Shire of Yilgarn community may be aware, the Southern Cross Pharmacy is closing on 30 June 2024.

The Shire of Yilgarn and Southern Cross Hospital are compiling a comprehensive list of vulnerable people within the Shire of Yilgarn, of whom may need assistance during emergency situations, such as prolonged power outages, severe storms, bushfire or other significant emergency events. 

Section 6.36 Local Government Act 1995 The Shire of Yilgarn, at the April 2024 Ordinary Council Meeting, resolved to adopt the 2024/2025 Rate Objects & Reasons which included the Differential and Minimums Rating model expected to be imposed as part of the 2024/2025 Budget.  The 2024/2025 Rate Objects & Reasons recommended the following differential and minimum rates:

The Shire has received advice that the Legislative Council Standing Committee on Public Administration has resolved to undertake an inquiry into regional telecommunications in Western Australia. The terms of reference are to inquire into and report on issues impacting regional telecommunications in Western Australia. The deadline for submission is the 26th April 2024.

Regional Joint Development Assessment Panel Minutes - Wednesday, 20 December 2023; 9.30am - Proposed Renewable Energy Facility

Please be advised, the Rural Landfill Sites within the Shire or Yilgarn are appointed as landfill sites for local residential\farming use only.  As signposted at each site, persons utilising these sites contrary to the requirements are in breach of the Litter Act.  Due to a number of complaints from local residents, the Shire will be monitoring these sites, including utilising CCTV, for compliance.  Penalties apply for breaches of the Litter Act.

Recycling Calendar for the Shire of Yilgarn 2023/2024

Concerns have been raised by Southern Cross residents relating to off-road vehicle use within the boundaries of Southern Cross townsite, including the bushland up to Three Boys Road.

There is no cure or vaccine to protect against mosquito-borne diseases acquired in Australia. The only way to prevent infection is to avoid being bitten.
