The Shire of Yilgarn is seeking a Chief Executive Officer who is a strong leader and trusted community connector, able to engage effectively with Council, staff, and stakeholders, and who brings a clear understanding of the opportunities and challenges unique to regional local government.

The Shire of Yilgarn is seeking a capable and progressive Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation, support Council in delivering effective governance, and drive the implementation of strategic objectives. The role requires strong legislative knowledge, sound judgement, and the ability to provide well-informed advice to Council. You will oversee the Shire’s administration, strengthen corporate and financial management, guide major projects, and foster a high-performance culture. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential to build effective relationships with Councillors, staff, the community, ensuring the Shire delivers quality services.

 

Employment will be offered on a performance-based contract for a term of three to five years, with a total remuneration package to be negotiated between $182,109 and $300,370, in accordance with SAT Band 3. The package will reflect the candidate’s qualifications and experience and will include a base salary, superannuation, allowances, private use of a motor vehicle, and newly constructed executive residence. Eligibility for a Regional/Isolation Allowance may also apply, and eligible relocation expenses will be considered as part of the overall package.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
PLANT MECHANIC

The Shire of Yilgarn currently is seeking applications from suitable qualified persons for the position of Plant Mechanic. The successful applicant will be responsible for repairs and maintenance to Council’s fleet of well-maintained and near new road construction plant, light vehicles and numerous small plant items.

The applicant must be:
• Self-motivated
• Have a strong work ethic
• Work well in a team
• WA “HR” manual drivers' licence
• Physically able to undertake manual work including bending, lifting and handling various types of tools and equipment
• Physically fit

What we offer:
• ***heavily subsidized housing/housing allowance ***
• up to 19.5% superannuation contribution
• 9-day fortnight, one rostered day off per fortnight
• consistent overtime available, current average work day of 9.5 hours (including overtime)
• Annual wage up to $108,200 (including average overtime hours)
