COVID-19 related closures

Closure of Shire of Yilgarn facilities and services:

Southern Cross Public Library is closed to the public as per instructions given by the Commissioner of Police and State Emergency Coordinator. We will still accept returns, but no new items will be lent out at this time. If you wish to renew your items, please call 9049 1688 or email us on

The Southern Cross Senior Citizen's Centre is also closed until further notice.

Due to renovations at both the pool and the recreation centre, both are, and will remain closed until further notice.

Parks, playgrounds, skatepark and outdoor gym have been closed due to announcement from the Federal Government.

Closure of surrounding Shires' facilities and services which may impact residents/visitors to Shire of Yilgarn:


In line with the National Cabinet advice on non-essential travel, Shire of Westonia have made the decision to close Westonia Caravan Park and Westonia RV 48hr Stopover area until further notice.

No new customers will be permitted to park in these facilities, or overflow facilities at Westonia Recreation Centre until further notice.

Current visitors have to Sunday 29th March 2020 to vacate.

There will also be NO CAMPING facilities within the Shire of Westonia over Easter and the upcoming school holidays including ELACHBUTTING AND BALADJIE ROCKS

Shire of Mukinbudin Administration Office closed from 12noon, 26th March 2020 until further notice.

The Shire of Mukinbudin advises that all campgrounds within the Shire will be closed until further notice, including Beringbooding Rock, in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.

Due to Government regulations, the following Shire facilities will be CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE from Monday 23rd March, 2020;
- Merredin Library 
- Cummins Theatre 
- Central Wheatbelt Visitors Centre
- Merredin Regional Community Recreation Centre

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, and in the best interest of our staff and the community, the Shire of Merredin Administration office will be closed to the Public effective from 4.30pm today, Friday 27 March 2020, until further notice.

Staff will remain contactable to take your calls or answer any questions between 8.30am and 4.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Apex Park playground & skatepark, MRCLC playground, French Ave plyagrounds and South Ave playgrounds have been closed.

The Shire of Mt Marshall will continue to monitor the rapidly changing environment and take action in accordance with advice from the relevant health and government authorities.
