Crosswords
The local community paper Crosswords is produced wholly within the Telecentre with an editor/receptionist employed 5 days per week.
400 copies of the paper are produced on a fortnightly basis with these being distributed throughout the Yilgarn district.
The paper is supported by the local businesses with advertising and the purchase cost is 70¢.
All members of the community are encouraged to place items of interest in the paper and we also advertise functions for Associations, Clubs and Societies. There is a For Sale/Wanted/Giveaway section, Real Estate, Community News and Calendar, Shire Updates, local Police news, Birthdays etc and Sports News. Most of what is happening within the community is printed in the paper.
Crosswords is a major income earner of the Telecentre and we rely heavily on community input to keep it interesting and enjoyable to read.
Volunteers are responsible for the folding and sorting of the paper and the Telecentre is always most grateful to those that give up their time to help collate the paper.

Background
The original Telecentre was established in 1994 with funding from the Federal Department of Primary Industries and Energy (DPIE) and the Shire of Yilgarn. The building is situated in the school grounds and co-location exists between the District High School and the Telecentre. In 1999 a new building was erected and funded by the Wheatbelt Development Commission, CRC Programme, the Education Department and the Shire of Yilgarn.
The new building was officially opened on the 27th July 1999. The Co-ordinator is answerable to a Management Committee with the Co-ordinator's salary being funded by the WA Telecentre Support Branch as part of a resource performance agreement.
The renewal of equipment and upgrading of resources is funded by the Telecentre and the availability of various grants.
Mission Statement
