The Shire of Yilgarn has upgraded three of its high use Standpipes with computerised controller systems.

The computerised controlled Standpipes can be found on:

  • Beaton Rd (corner Beaton Rd and Bullfinch Rd)
  • Garrett Rd (corner Garrett Rd and Great Eastern Highway)
  • Koolyanobbing Rd (corner East Corinthia Rd and Koolyanobbing Road).

Asset control is important to the Shire and this upgrade will assist in raising vital revenue as well as reducing costs to the community.

Access to the Standpipes will require the use of a Standpipe Access Card at a cost of $20 each. An Application for Standpipe Access will need to be completed.

Unlike the honour system used to date with invoices sent out to users the new system will be a prepaid scheme similar to the public transport card system used in Perth. This requires the user to upload credits on to their access card which then can be used at the standpipe and recharged when needed.

Water usage charges will remain in line with the current Fees and Charges imposed by the Shire of Yilgarn.

The Application for Standpipe Access form is available here or at the Shire Administration office.
