21st October 2009 - Burning Season 2009/2010 - Restricted Burning Times

Please be advised of the Restricted burning period from:
19 September 2009 to 31 October 2009 and
2 March 2010 to 15 April 2010
(Note: Permits to burn during the above periods are required. Permits must be obtained from your nearest Bush Fire Control Officer)

Prohibited Burning Period: 1 November 2009 to 1 March 2010
(Note: Permits to burn stubble from the previous seasons crop will not be issued until 2 March 2010)

Some householders will be receiving a letter over the next week issuing a request to clean up front and backyards before the warmer months. Dry grass becomes a fuel and can be a fire hazard for your property and neighbouring properties. As a fire preventative measure please clean up the area or if you are unable the Southern Cross Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service can conduct a controlled burn-off on your behalf, subject to their standard fee of $60 per block.
